Privacy Policy

FocusPet ("the App") is an iOS focus timer with a virtual pet garden, developed by Fatih Özen (the "Developer", "we", "us"). This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using FocusPet you agree to the practices described here.

1. Data we collect

1.1 Account & device identifiers

  • Anonymous user ID. The App signs you in anonymously to Firebase Authentication on first launch. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any other identifier you control. It exists so your data can be backed up and restored on the same device.
  • Device identifier. A random UUID generated on first launch and stored in the iOS Keychain. Used to associate cloud-saved data with your installation.

1.2 Usage data (synced to the cloud)

The following data is stored locally on your device and mirrored to Firebase Firestore so it can be restored:

  • Focus sessions (start time, duration, optional label, completed/cancelled state)
  • Pets you own and their state (species, hatch progress, garden position)
  • Coin balance and coin transaction history
  • Garden progress (active map, grid size, fog-dispelled status per map)
  • Aggregate counters (total focus seconds, total coins, completed session count, last active timestamp)
  • App version and platform string ("ios")

1.3 Analytics & diagnostics

The App includes the Firebase Analytics SDK, which automatically collects baseline usage data such as app open events, session duration, device model, OS version, and a Firebase-generated installation ID. This data helps us understand stability and general usage patterns. We do not use it to profile individual users.

1.4 Purchases

In-app purchases (coin packs and pet unlocks) are processed by Apple via StoreKit. We receive a transaction confirmation from Apple, but Apple does not share your payment method, billing address, or Apple ID with us. Your purchase history is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

1.5 Screen Time / Family Controls data

If you enable the optional "block apps during focus" feature, the App uses Apple's FamilyControls and ManagedSettings frameworks. Your selection of apps and websites to block is stored as opaque tokens in iOS — these tokens are processed entirely on your device and never transmitted to us or to Firebase. We cannot see which specific apps or websites you have selected.

1.6 Notifications

With your permission, the App schedules local notifications for focus completion and daily reminders (12:00 and 18:00 if you have not focused that day). These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device by iOS.

1.7 What we do not collect

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or password (the App has no sign-in screen in v1)
  • Your precise or approximate location
  • Your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
  • Browsing history outside the App
  • Advertising identifiers (the App does not show ads in v1)

2. How we use data

  • To provide core features (timer, pet garden, coins, store)
  • To back up your progress so it can be restored if you reinstall the App on the same device
  • To understand stability and usage trends through Firebase Analytics
  • To process purchases via Apple StoreKit

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising profiling.

3. Third-party services

The App relies on the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

4. Data retention

  • On-device data (SwiftData and Keychain) remains until you uninstall the App or clear it manually.
  • Cloud data (Firebase) is retained indefinitely while your installation is active. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 6).
  • Analytics data follows Firebase's default retention window (currently 14 months for event-level data).

5. Data location

Cloud data is stored in Google Firebase data centers in the eur3 (multi-region Europe) location. By using the App, you consent to your data being processed in those locations.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU/EEA, KVKK in Türkiye, CCPA in California), you may have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about your installation
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

Because v1 of the App does not include a login system, we identify your data by the anonymous user ID stored in the App. To exercise any of these rights, email us at fatihozen247@gmail.com from any address and include a screenshot of the Profile screen so we can locate your installation. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Children's privacy

The App is rated 4+ but is not designed for, marketed to, or knowingly used by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

Cloud data is protected by Firestore security rules that restrict each user's data to their own anonymous user ID. Network traffic uses HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to keep your device updated.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the App's data practices change (for example, when social login is added in a future version). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be announced in the App's release notes.
